We are delighted to have been awarded the prestigious Gold Reading Schools Award! The Pupil Council worked very hard on bringing many exciting events and activities to the pupils to promote reading experiences across the school.
These included:
- Book Week events including decorating classroom doors, reading recommendation scrolls, Book Flix and library recommendations
- Buddy reads & sponsored events
- Trips to the library
- Author reads
- Mystery Readers
- The Reading Café run by P7 for younger pupils
Family support was also phenomenal! Our sponsored read raised a tremendous sum of £823 which has been used towards further reading materials. Our Kilmardinny Loch Book Fairy Hunt and also Easter Holiday Treasure Hunt were well supported and this community aspect was a key area of the Gold Award.
